We talk a lot about allyship, but friendship is a powerful, unacknowledged driver of social change. Most people take action after being recruited by a friend. In this session, we will explore the limits of allyship and the benefits of friendship by looking at historic pairs and groups of friends, by reflecting on our own friendships, and by considering the presence of curiosity, humility, consent and reciprocity, especially in friendships between people who hold differential power in the world.
